About Megan Cullen – Cake Superior
Hi, I’m Megan Cullen, the person behind Cake Superior.
I’ve been baking since the age of 9 years old. I hold a BSc. (Hons) in Human Nutrition. During my schooling and college years, I used to escape from assignments and exam pressure and turn to baking!
In January 2015, I was asked to make a cake for a nephew’s Christening and the journey started from there, as many friends and family wanted me to make cakes for their celebrations.
In June 2017, I decided to set up Cake Superior. It has exceeded my expectations, with every year proving busier and more successful.
All orders are made fresh and made to order with the finest of ingredients in an HSE registered home bakery kitchen, just 5 minutes from Collooney village in County Sligo.
Being located in Collooney, I am central to many towns and villages, and only 10 minutes away from Sligo Town.
I always aim to provide my customers with something a little different to my competitors. I have a masters in PME which includes modules such as sugarcraft, sugarflowers and royal icing and have completed many courses including airbrushing, structured cakes, handpainting and a figurine modelling classes. This can be seen in my range of bespoke cupcake flower bouquets launched in Summer 2019. I spent months perfecting the range before I displayed my bouquets on my social media pages and they received the most incredible response and have been proving extremely popular among my customers and local businesses.
“I want my customers to get a cake that stands out from the crowd”.
When it comes to a wedding cake, I like to focus on the bride and groom. I try to ensure that the process is as stress free as possible for my customer, the Bride and Groom/ Brides/ Grooms. It has proven to be a successful approach as many of my wedding couples and guests will be talking about the cake I created and the taste of the cake for weeks after the wedding.
